Sailing Clinic Saturday, August 4th 8:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Pinchot Sailing Club will be running a Sailing Clinic for sailors of all ability on Saturday, August 12, at 8:45 a.m. at Pinchot State Park Lake, Mooring Area No. 2. There is no cost, but bring lunch for later.
Consider this an opportunity to meet fellow sailors from Pinchot, Codorus, and the Susquehanna. After a meet and greet time over coffee, juice, and doughnuts, we'll offer four classes on the following:
9:00-9:45 RIGGING WITH CONFIDENCE : Participate in a hands-on rigging demonstration, see how other boats are set-up, or simply receive help with yours!
9:45-10:30 WORKING THE WIND SHIFTS : Featuring basic sailing theory, we'll eventually discuss the challenges of Pinchot sailing and how to master the lake's mysterious wind shifts.
10:30-11:15 CONTROLLING YOUR CAPSIZES : With emphasis on boating safety, we will go out and intentionally capsize a few boats on hand and practice righting boats the right way!
11:15-12:00 RACING FOR FUN : Get your sailboats out on the course for some simulated starts, right-of-way practice, and super-fast mark roundings. Rumor has it there may even be a mini-regatta...
We'll conclude the morning with lunch together and an afternoon open sail. Make every effort to join us on Saturday, August 12. Expect an open-air classroom, a fleet of boats, and people like yourself who just love sailing!
